Maxwell Lee “Max” Hill 99 of Dumas passed away peacefully, Saturday, November 20, 2021, at his home. He was born January 4, 1922, in Lonoke, AR to the late Earnest Lee and Beulah Napier Hill. Max was preceded in death by his loving wife Margie Sue Moreland Hill, one son Dwight Lee Hill, five brothers Gene, Norwood, Jude, Bo and Tossie Hill.
Max lived a very full life, he loved to work in his yard and duck hunting was his passion. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone that needed it. He loved his family very much. He was a Deacon at Hopedale Missionary Baptist Church, 33rd degree Mason, a member of Lodge # 547 in Dumas and the Lonoke Lodge, he was a Master Mason for 78 years. He was also Deputy District Grand Master, Board member of Wells Bayou Water Shed, Riceland Foods and was elected to Who’s Who of Arkansas. Max was a farmer for many years, Max Hill Farms and was a Veteran in the United States Army as PFC from 1941-1942.
He is survived by one son Hal Stanley (Sherry) Hill of Dumas, one daughter Marilyn Ann (Ted) Martin also of Dumas, one sister Beulah Mae Pearson of Cabot, three brothers Ted Hill of Dumas, Rich Hill of Cabot, and Sonny Hill of Summerville, GA, eight grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
A walk-through visitation, due to Covid, will be Monday, November 22, 2021, from 1:30-2:00pm at Hopedale Missionary Baptist Church in Winchester with graveside service at 2:00pm at Hopedale Cemetery with Rev. Johnny Brewster officiating. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
