Robert George Greenup 70 of Dumas, Arkansas passed away February 4, 2024, in Little Rock, Arkansas. Born in Warren, Arkansas on December 8, 1953. His mother and adopted father, Mabel Ann Greenup and Robert Carr Greenup, father, Robert George Pappas, Sr, stepmother Cecelia Schweitzer Pappas and his sister Patricia “Patty” Ann Shaddox all preceded hm in death.
Robert served in the United States Army and was ranked staff sergeant, member of VFW 2746, American Legion post #0037. He studied at Southeast Louisiana University, University at Tulsa, Walden University, Robert taught school for 28 years with the Dumas Public School System, during this time he was a member of Arkansas Education Association, Arkansas Teachers Association, coached Lions Club Baseball, defensive coordinator for Dumas Bobcats and the Security coordinator, quiz bowl coach and member of Boys Scouts.
Survivors are his wife Kitty Greenup of Dumas, Arkansas and twin daughters Kelly Greenup of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Kerry (Justin) Reynolds of Mannford, Oklahoma, two brothers Robert ‘Bob” Pappas of Gamaliel, Arkansas William Greenup of Mount Vernon, Arkansas and four sisters Cindy Russell of Sherwood, Arkansas, Theresa Suszko of Denver, Colorado, Mary Boan of Denver, Colorado, Gail Kemp of Gamaliel, Arkansas, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Visitation held from 5-7pm on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, Griffin Funeral Home, Dumas, Arkansas. Funeral services held at 2 pm on Thursday, February 8, 2024, First Baptist Church, 305 First Street, Gould, Arkansas with Rev. Michael Ault officiating with burial following in Tyro Cemetery, Tyro, Arkansas. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Franklin and Shanley families for their dedicated friendship. Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
