Shirley Ann Knight Gasaway 89 of Gould, AR passed away December 26, 2020 in Dumas, AR. She was born December 19, 1931 in Wilmar, AR to the late John Clarence and Jennie Mae Holland Knight. She was also preceded in death by Great Grandson Conner McMahan, brother Roland Knight, and sister Myra Nell Jones. She was a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church for 73 year after it disbanded she attended Smyrna Baptist Church.
Shirley grew up in Mississippi and Louisiana, she moved to Gould when she was a teenager for 6 months then moved back to Louisiana to graduate at Natchitoches, Louisiana High School in 1948. Then Shirley returned to Gould and married to her loving husband Gaylon for 72 years, they were married August 25, 1948 in Star City, AR. She retired from Delta Memorial Hospital in Dumas as Director of Environmental Services and Safety for many years.
Survived by two daughters Gayle (Larry) McMahan of Arkansas City, AR, Mona (Jim) Dixon of Greenbrier, AR and son Kenny (Ester) Gasaway of Wildwood, FL. She is also survived by six grandchildren Kimberly (Steven) Grammar of Dewitt, AR, Jamie Smith of McGehee, AR, Keith Dixon of El Dorado, AR, Leanne Gasaway of Wildwood, Florida, Michelle (David) Sarra of Poinciana, Florida and Patrick Dixon of Greenbrier, AR. Ten great grandchildren, Julia Beatty, C.J. Beatty, Cassidy Burns, Sydney Smith, Brayden Mosby, Cayden Smith, Penelope, Astrid, Gwendolyn and Ash Sarra and four great- great grandchildren, Mason Beatty, Madox Beatty, Cooper Hill and Conner Joe Beatty, one brother John (Rose) Knight of Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
There will be a Private graveside service at Dark Corner cemetery due to Covid with a memorial service at a later date.
Rev. Dubs Byers and Rev. Jim Smith will officiate.
