Romona Weatherford has announced her candidacy for reelection as Council Member for Ward 1, Position 1.
Weatherford, a 50-year native of Dumas, has served in that position for 12 years. She said, “I have been proud to be a part of the progress our city has made even in some difficult economic times. I believe that some of the things I helped to do as Director of the Chamber of Commerce and things achieved working with other Council Members were instrumental in that regard.
It has my privilege to work with many of Dumas citizens who are from all walks of life. Many are adults who I knew as children when I was school secretary at Reed.
I hope everyone will come to the polls and give me a chance to keep working for all the people of Dumas.”
Weatherford, a member of First Baptist Church, says she sees herself as a Christian first, then wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. “I really never think of myself as a politician, I am just a person who wants the best for everybody in my family, my friends, my church and Dumas.”
