The November 3 Election Day is just 6 days away and the Desha County Clerk's office is preparing for the event so that people can vote safely.
People who vote will still receive their “I voted” sticker, but this year for those who need them masks will be available at all the polling places in Desha County. Masks are strongly encouraged. The Arkansas Secretary of State provided them with 2,000 white face masks, and Desha County Clerk Valerie Donaldson ordered more to be prepared. She ordered 3,000 white masks with the printed emblem of the American Flag with "I Voted" in red and blue from Freedom Graphics, of Dumas.
Other precautions include having sanitizer available; disposable stylus pens to vote with; Social distancing will be mandatory and Polling sites will be cleaned every hour and nightly.
If anyone received an absentee ballot do not take it to the polls. They must mail it back or bring it back personally to the County Clerk’s Office. If anyone received an absentee ballot in the mail and decided to not use it, they will not be allowed to vote on the machines. They will be required to vote a provisional paper ballot. Additional questions or concerns contact County Clerk Valerie Donaldson at 870-222-0870.
