Recently, Arkansas United presented multiple awards to statewide recipients who were being recognized for their contributions in their communities. Rev. Arthur L. Hunt, Jr., was among the list. In a statement from the presenters, Arkansas United, they said this.
“Reverend Arthur L. Hunt, Jr. They say we truly meet someone's character in times of challenge. During the peak of the 2020 COVID Pandemic as businesses were shutting down and people were being laid off, schools were closing and the need for help and assistance was at an all-time high. We had the pleasure and privilege to meet Reverend Arthur Hunt who quickly mobilized to look for and bring resources to the Dumas community who desperately needed the help. Since then, he has been a huge ally and supporter of the organization.”
Hunt acknowledged his gratitude for the award at the Clinton Presidential Center and stated that he received the award on behalf of The Legacy Center in West Dumas and on behalf of all the persons on the REDI (Rural Economic Development Innovation) team who worked extremely hard in the pandemic times putting hundreds of hours into this effort to bring resources from food, health, education and wellness programs from across the nation into Dumas. To date the program has distributed over $750,000 in food and over 1 million dollars in the total operations and continues to look for ways to get more resources and strategies to innovate in Dumas.
In a statement Hunt added, “As a Visionary leader, I see Dumas as a city that has great talents. A new day for innovation has arrived and I am committed to be one of the persons who leads the way. I’m grateful to God and the leaders and persons who are working together to be the change in Dumas.”
