The 2023 recipient for the American Legion Johnny Halsell Scholarship is Daniel Curtis. Curtis is a 2023 honor graduate of Dumas High School, who plans to attend the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and major in Agricultural Business. He is the son of Jason and Alice Curtis. Presenting the award is Karen Irons, Assistant Trust Officer at Merchants and Farmers Bank. The scholarship was established to honor John E. Halsell, a 1965 graduate of Dumas High School, who made the supreme sacrifice for his country while serving with the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam. (SubmitteD Photo)
