Desha County Sheriff Department Report

On July 28th at 10:20 a.m., Deputies were dispatched to an address on Wood Street in Watson, in reference to an elderly Man being beaten by his Grandson. Upon arrival Deputies made contact with the elderly subject, who had several lacerations on his head and face. He told Deputies that his Grandson, 29-year-old Diaquon L.

My name is Mitch Grant, and I am honored to have been elected to serve the good people of Desha County, as your Sheriff. I am a 28 year veteran of Law Enforcement. After winning the election, I retired from the Arkansas State Police on December 31st, 2022, and was sworn in as Sheriff the next day, on January 1st, 2023.

On 3/29/2023 Chief Deputy Jonathan Byrd took a report from a resident from Dickson Lane, who made an internet sale of a motor vehicle to a subject allegedly from Chicago Illinois. After receiving the $8500.00 cashiers check, it was deposited into a local bank, and the funds were used to purchase another vehicle.
