Desha County man arrested on kidnapping charges

On Sunday, February 1st, 2025 at 4:58 p.m. Desha County Central Dispatch received a 911 call from 219 Terry Lane, which is located off U.S. Hwy 165 east of Dumas. While no one spoke to the 911 operator, she could hear a verbal altercation occurring in the background. Deputies were dispatched to the address.

Last week in Desha County Circuit Court, a jury of his peers found 26 year old Christopher McDaniels guilty of the brutal stabbing death of his Grandfather, 57 year old James Petty of Arkansas City. McDaniels was sentenced to life in the Arkansas Department of Corrections.
