Changing who decides whether to certify the popular name and ballot title of ballot issues in Arkansas apparently hasn’t taken controversy out of the process.

The responsibility used to fall to the state attorney general; but the job is now in the hands of the state Board of Election Commissioners, which is scheduled to meet today.

Perhaps expectations were unduly low as the Jan. 6 insurrection committee hearings began last week.
No one was sure who would watch or for how long, but revelations from the committee’s months-long inquiry into what led up to the insurrection, who was responsible and how it played out has proven captivating.
