The Rams won the 2022 Super Bowl.
Regardless of which team you were for, the Rams had plenty of help on their last drive. Perhaps the Rams should give the game officials a ring as well.
After pretty much letting them play throughout most of the game, suddenly the officials got involved and in my opinion ruined an excellent Super Bowl game.
It gave the NFL a bad look. Almost appeared to be a predetermined outcome.
While being somewhat neutral on who I wanted to win the game, summing up the fourth quarter looked like the officials were supposed to give the hometown Rams every opportunity to win the game.
As a former high school, college football player, it's a well known fact the officials could call holding on every play. Offensive linemen holding defensive linemen and defensive linemen holding offensive linemen to keep them from blocking the linebackers. It occurs on just about every running play.
They could call interference on at least 80% of the time on pass plays. Receivers run smack into defensive backs and make a cut off that contact. Receivers pushing off just as the ball arrives, or slapping down the defenders hands while defensive backs are grabbing arms, jerseys, anything they can get a hold of.
The trick is, why do they call holding or interference when they do and don't call it when they should have.
Bottom line is at every level of football from High School to College to the NFL, the officials control the outcome or at least have just about more to say through what they do or don't do than the two teams playing the game.
Same thing, even more so, in basketball. I'll save that conversation for another day.
Maybe there should be a Congressional Committee to investigate these officials?
Not really. We definitely have enough of that.
Is this one of those life lessons to young and old, that life is not fair?
It's not fair in sports, or in the courtroom (unless you are rich and can afford to defend yourself) and absolutely not in the United States Congress where dishonesty is the norm. Those elected to Congress are there to represent us, the people who voted them into office. However, they represent special interest, campaign contributors like big corporations and big business, not us.
Congress members were originally not supposed to be paid, but only paid a per diem for being there to not allow Congress to be influenced by the wealthy or special interest or big business. Oddly enough that's exactly who controls Congress. However, Congress voted to pay themselves.
They scream about cutting Social Security, which Social Security is not even part of the budget, yet they never mention cutting the outrageous pay of congress members.
Growing up in the late 50's and 60's we were told in school that we are the good guys, while whoever we oppose as a country are the bad guys.
Native American Indians became savages, even though so called white men started the savagery, scalping, raiding, murder and so forth, intent on stealing our land. The United States got away with it and put my people on reservations where many still reside today. When other countries do these things America condemns them for their humanitarian crimes.
The Land of the Free. Right, only if you are wealthy. The wealthy don't pay taxes. They are often wealthy off the misfortunes of others.
U.S. Oil companies are allowed to reduce oil production to drive up prices. Making everyday Americans suffer. I recently heard of an oil executive who retired. His retirement bonus was several billion dollars. Money taken out of the pockets of the American people who have no choice but to pay the price at the pumps, or walk.
Other big business has figured this out as well. Create a shortage to drive up prices and reap higher profits, at the expense of Americans. The meat industry is completely out of control. The middle man is controlling production, claiming a shortage and driving up prices. The cattle rancher, chicken house owner, or hog raiser's aren't being paid more for their livestock.
I'm looking for where in this country life is fair.
Former United States President John F. Kennedy said, “Life isn't fair, it never was and never will be.”
