DWI – DRUGS
According to Police Department Incident Reports, Dumas Police CID Alan Hernandez was patrolling Highway 65 South Thursday, March 10, 2022 at approximately 5:42 pm, when he observed a black pickup traveling north.
Hernandez followed the vehicle due to the driving manner. As the truck came to a complete stop at the 65/165 red light, a white male driving a black SUV pulled beside me and advise me that the driver of the truck was possibly drunk.
As the light turned green, the black truck continued driving south. Hernandez observed the truck signal left and merged left, afterwards merged right and failed to signal.
Hernandez conducted a traffic stop. The driver was identified as 21-year-old Nicholas Moreland. Hernandez asked More-land if he had anything to drink. He responded no. Moreland was asked to step out of the vehicle. Hernandez asked Moreland if he was willing to do SFSTs and he agreed.
Moreland was then transported to the Dumas Police Department where he was advised of the Arkansas Statement of Driver Rights. He agreed to take a BAC. His results showed .000 of alcohol in his breath.
Moreland was advised if he was willing to take a second test involving his saliva and he agreed.
A Sotoxa, a mobile test system was used. Moreland was swabbed in his mouth for saliva and swab was placed in the Sotoxa analyzer where it was determined that he was positive for cannabis.
Moreland was booked in for DWI drugs and was able to make bond and given a court date.
INFORMATION REPORT
While on patrol, Dumas Police Sgt. Crystal Martin went to check Magnolia Park.
As Sgt. Martin turned around to go back East on Waterman, she noticed a dark color SUV with a Chevy symbol displayed on the front grill parked in the rear driveway of 1200 W. Waterman Street,
Sgt. Martin drove up to the vehicle and determined the vehicle matched the description of a theft from Edwards Motor Company.
Martin ran the VIN number through dispatch to confirm it was the stolen vehicle from the business.
The owner was notified.
INFORMATION REPORT
Dumas Police Department CID Alan Hernandez was patrolling West Side Park, Sunday, March 13, 2022 at approximately 4:27 pm. As Hernandez was driving eastbound on West Waterman, he observed a white station wagon parked underneath the car port of 1200 W. Waterman.
The vehicle matched the description of one stolen from Edwards Motors located at Hwy 165.
Hernandez ran the tag confirming the vehicle was stolen. He advised dispatch he would be out with the vehicle and requested a wrecker.
Once the wrecker arrived, Hernandez requested an investigative hold. He then placed evidence tape on all doors until he could obtain a warrant to process the vehicle.
The vehicle is currently at Whaley's.
POSSESSING MARIJUANA
Dumas Police Sgt. Greg Freeman was dispatched to the Woodland Apartments Saturday, March 5, 2022 at approximately 10:36 pm, in reference to a disturbance.
When Sgt. Freeman arrived, Officer McCree was speaking with a black male identified as 57-year-old Luvell Livingston about the incident.
While patting down Livingston for any type of weapon a small brown cigarette case was found in his left rear pocket. Inside the case there was a small amount of a green leafy substance appearing to be Marijuana.
Livingston was given a citation and released. Livingston was advised to not return to the Woodland Apartments.
All evidence was place in the Evidence Locker for further processing.
CRIMINAL MISCHIEF – 2ND DEGREE
On Thursday, March 3, 2022 John Farmer of Dumas reported that someone spray painted his 2021 Toyota Tundra during the night. There are no known suspects at this time.
