On May 21, 2025, Desha County Circuit Court, the following persons accepted negotiated pleas and were sentenced.
Keith Rainey- Furnishing, Possessing, Using, or Delivering Prohibited Articles into a Detention Facility- 5 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections, plus 5 years SIS.

Desha County Investigator Alan Hernandez, and Desha County Coroner Dr. Jamie Evans, carefully examining the area where the remains were found. All remains and clothing had been removed prior to taking the photo.

Human Remains found on Mississippi River island

On Sunday evening, May 25th, Sheriff Mitch Grant was contacted by the Arkansas Game & Fish and was told that the Mississippi Wildlife and Fisheries had a report of human remains being discovered on a remote island in the Mississippi River on the north end of Desha County near Snow Lak

Croom taken into custody

On May 25, 2025 Zquavious Croom was taken into custody and booked on his charges of Aggravated Assault, Terroristic Thre-atening and Escape 2nd Degree. The Dumas Police Department would like to thank all the help we received in taking Croom back into custody. The DPD appreciates the assistance.

Suspect sought in Commercial Burglary

On Saturday, December 7 th at 7:43 a.m., Sergeant Roland Brown was dispatched to a burglary on Turner Neal Road at the gunsmith shop. Upon arrival the business owner showed Sgt. Brown a side window that was broken out where entry into the business was made.
