Gary Russell was born on September 1, 1965 to Pervis Russell, Sr. and Georgia Mae Wilson in Tillar, AR. He departed this life on September 26, 2022 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, AR. Gary was laid to rest on Saturday, October 1, 2022.
Gary was baptized at an early age at Bailey Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Reed, AR under the leadership of Johnny Smith Sr. Gary attended his younger years in Chicago, IL at Dett Elementary, then Crane High School, but completed his senior year at Tillar High School in 1984. Later, Gary obtained an Associate’s Degree in Computer Networking Technology from Remington College in Little Rock, AR. Gary worked as a welder with Binkley for thirteen years, then, as a foreman at Custom Kraft for seven years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, attending football games, and volunteering in the Bobcat basketball concession stand. He became Pastor of Mt. Calvary MB church in Gillett, AR in 2008 for six years. Later, he joined Havis Chapel in Dumas, AR, where he became Pastor in March of 2022.
Those who preceded him in death include his father: Pervis Russell Sr., and siblings: Greg Gardner, Larry Russell, Brenda Horn and Joyce Russell. Those left to celebrate his life and cherish memories include his mother: Georgia Mae Wilson of Reed, AR; Tarji Russell of Dumas, AR; his siblings: Hezie Gibbs of McGehee, AR; Ricky (Carolyn) Wilson of Oakland, CA; Margie (Gary) Murphy of Oakland, CA; Jarvies Wilson of Conway, AR; Brenda (Brent) Herring of Conway, AR; Glenda (David) Riley of Pine Bluff, AR; Debra (Darryl) Tanner of Dumas, AR; Pervis (Jeneen) Russell II of Stafford, VA; Gerald (Tammy) Tanner of Dumas, AR; Terry (Tonja) Tanner of Pine Bluff, AR; Dwight (Julia) Merrill Sr. of Dermott, AR; and Mable Tanner of Little Rock, AR.; his children: Britney Russell of Little Rock, AR; Gary Russell of Oakland, CA; Bridgette Russell of McGehee, AR; Devonte Russell of Little Rock, AR; Keryona Evans of Dallas, TX; Damarian “Lil Man” Russell of Conway, AR; Damian Anderson of Little Rock, AR; and Kenyatta Plummer of Dumas, AR; Twelve grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
